How does a draft game work in an individual sport?
You are not building a team so much as a field. Each round deals you an era and the players who were winning in it, and you fill your card seat by seat. The season then plays out as a run of tournaments rather than a schedule of fixtures.
Which eras of golf are in the pool?
From the era of hickory and long championships through to the current tour, on both the men's and women's sides. Each card is one real season: the wins, the top tens and the majors it actually produced.
How do you compare a 1930s champion with a modern one?
On what winning meant at the time. Fields, travel, equipment and the number of events all changed beyond recognition, so a season is rated against its own tour rather than against a modern scoring average. A player is never marked down for the technology he was born before.
Do majors count for more than ordinary wins?
They do, and that is what makes the choices hard. A card full of consistent top tens reads very differently from one with a major on it, so drafting for reliability and drafting for the trophies you remember are genuinely different strategies.
What is the daily golf board?
One shared field per calendar day. Everyone drafting that day gets the same players offered in the same order, so the results are comparable — the only variable is what you did with them.
Are women's majors included?
Yes. The women's championships are their own answer lane with their own record, not folded into the men's numbers, because averaging two different tours together would make both of them meaningless.
How is golf drafted differently here?
Golf has no franchises to spin, so the board deals eras and fields rather than clubs. What you are building is a lineup of players from across the record rather than a team from one city.
Can one lineup mix players from different eras?
Yes, and golf stretches it further than most — the record here reaches back to 1860, so a lineup can hold a pre-war champion beside a modern major winner.
What makes a good golf lineup here?
Consistency across the majors rather than one famous week. The simulation runs a season, so a player with a long peak contributes more than one with a single celebrated win.
Do you need to follow the modern game to play?
No. With the longest span on the site, most of what the board deals is history, and the way performance was measured changed so completely that knowing an older era is its own advantage.
What honours are recorded on a golf card?
PGA Player of the Year, Vardon Trophy among them. Golf keeps honours by season and by major, so a card shows both the year a player dominated and the weeks that proved it.
How deep is the golf pool?
To 1860 and the first Open — the longest span on the site — with 164 hall-of-fame figures, across a record where the way scoring is measured changed completely.
